I feel as though most of the staff is unprofessional. They gossip to clients about other clients personal and sometimes confidential information. They act like they can’t be bothered with your issues whether you’re having a serious problem or not. Even though a lot of them have been through addiction themselves, they act like they are better than everyone else and turn their nose up to you if they don’t agree with you. They show favoritism, they enforce rules to some and not to others. They discriminate. They are solely there to profit off other people’s misfortunes, they could care less how successful or unsuccessful their clients may or may not be when they leave. They are fake and two faced. They try to act like they care and are there for support but can’t be trusted with anything you tell them. They are not available nor willing to hear you out when you need to talk to them. It is completely an unprofessional and negative environment. They don’t encourage you, they tear you down and push you to want to go back to using. I would not recommend to anyone!!!

I stayed there for 4 months a few years back. At that time, they required a 3 month stay, as a "halfway" client. after your 3 month stay you were asked to either graduate or file a notice and ask to stay another month, for as long as you and they felt you needed. Once you were there for several months you would graduate to a "3/4th" client, which gave you more responsibility and trust as you had a later curfew and were allowed a cell phone. When I went into their program I absolutely gave it my all. I did everything that was asked of me, I obeyed all of the rules: getting up at 6 a.m., no sleeping in your bed after you make it up at 6 and could get in it after a daily AA or NA meeting, and certain days of the week we had special meetings, like Sunday night was when everyone in the program at the Herring House would come to the meeting hall and discuss any issues, welcome newcomers, and pay your rent for the week,,,, we had daily devotionals every morning at 6:30 a.m., no T.V. until 5 p.m., no cell phones, signing in and out every time you come and go, no fraternization between men and women, if you didn't have a car or family to help get you to and from, you paid them $5.00 a ride, you had to find a job (which was absolutely necessary in my opinion if you are trying to get your life back together), and every Saturday morning at 7 a.m. we had to do our chores, everyone was assigned a specific chore for the week, and you had to maintain it daily, but deep dive into it on Saturday, we were not allowed to have any heated hair products, so no straightener/curling iron/curling wand/hot rollers/etc., you had to purchase your own food and take care of feeding yourself (which at the time i was there, the rent was $625 a month if I can remember correctly, either $625 or $600) and working like where most of us did was minimum wage jobs and some people had other financial obligations outside of paying this place $600 a month, so it was not easy for myself to keep up paying that every month and feeding myself properly, along with one of the women that stayed there for like 5 years, I am not even kidding.
